ABOUT THE ARTIST
Peggy Turner-Carr, a Port Huron native, has been singing and performing professionally in Michigan since she was 15 years old. Her entire family was musical and she was able to warm her feet on stage with her brothers when she was 11. Her family was also active in their church music programs every weekend.
Jazz has always been a passion for Peggy and she cherishes every jazz performance. She was so fortunate to have been mentored by some very great musicians from Michigan’s east side starting at a very young age.
Peggy has also performed with the Tim Hewitt Band and the Blue Water Big Band, just to name a few. She spent 10 years singing with Harry and Company at the St Clair Inn. Some of her most memorable gigs involved her appearance as the opening act for Martha Reeves and The Afters.
She began singing with a band called a Touch of Class and currently performs with the River Town Gents and the Christian group Righteous Through God (RTG). She has written music and lyrics for selections on the RTG Power of You and The Word CDs and continues to write new music for RTG’s upcoming CD currently being recorded in Nashville. RTG also performed on Building 429's Christmas song “J.O.Y.” Peggy’s husband, Mike, is the sound tech and works with the band.
They currently reside in Fenton, and she has been honored with five Detroit Music Awards within the last few years.
ABOUT THIS SERIES
Seven years ago, we (Cal & Whitney Stone - 2 Stones Events) came up with a new live music series – Kittens & Crooners – to celebrate the music and style of our country’s classic jazz singers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, and Rosemary Clooney. The four shows we held in 2016 at the Tipping Point Theater in Northville went over so well that we continued presenting live jazz at that venue until the pandemic put a halt to indoor concerts. (Don't worry, we'll be doing more shows at the Tipping Point.)
In early 2022, we revived Kittens & Crooners in another intimate venue that’s perfect for this type of performance -- the lower level of Ciao Amici's restaurant in downtown Brighton. We added a show to make this a full four-concert series with room to grow!
IMPORTANT: When ordering tickets be sure you receive them via email and add the Eventbrite email to your contacts. If you sign up for 2 Stones email, add us to your contacts so our correspondences don't end up in your spam folder.
